Our Environmental Impact

Maybe you haven’t thought about the environmental impact of your clothes before, but the effects of the fashion industry on our planet are huge. 🤯

Textile production creates 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon every year - more than EVERY international flight combined ✈️ - and that is just the beginning.

The story of how our clothes come to be is a fascinating, terrifying and dirty tale that desperately needs to change.

We’re here to clean things up.

At Church of Antioch, we believe in small changes leading to bigger ones.

We’re creating fashion for the future - clothes that care about people and the planet at every step of the process, or as we like to put it ; ‘streetwear with good intentions’.

We work with as many innovative, sustainable fabrics as possible, and will do our best to reduce our environmental impact wherever we can - using local manufacturers, natural fibers, recycled textiles, deadstock fabrics, low-impact or natural dyes and recycle-able packaging.

We’re not perfect and our standards will always be evolving - but we wake up every day with the intention to do better - for the sake of people, and the sake of our planet.

PRODUCTS + PRACTICES:

Our designs are timeless, simple, and not defined by seasons with the slow fashion philosophy in mind.

- - -

You can expect to get countless wears out of each garment, reducing your footprint.
- - -
Our fabrics are pre-washed and dried to eliminate shrinkage.
- - -
Our garments are made in small batches, so there is little or no wastage / dead stock. We strategically cut the garments to reduce waste fabric as much as possible.
- - -
Our fabrics are all plant based and biodegradable. You could literally discard your garments in your compost pile after their lifecycle.
- - -
Our manufacturers are working to find ways to repurpose the fabric scraps left after our garments are made - for shipping, reusing around the studio, or more recently making masks for NHS/Key workers during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
- - -
We use low impact dyes and we prewash our fabrics without harsh detergents or chemicals.
- - -
We use metal trims and zippers, instead of using unnecessary plastic in our garments.
- - -
We produce all of our clothing in the UK which reduces the cost of shipping + transportation, and reduces our carbon footprint (and yours for that matter).
- - -
Our packaging consists of 100% recyclable & compostable materials. We encourage our customers to be recycling + composting where possible.
